Loved that he didn't need a 'gift from Freddie, well done!

It's amazing what his "limited schedule" has done for his game, not to mention his peace of mind and family time. Whay to go Strick...finish this thing ILLINI Strong.

Strick is one of my favorites on tour. He's such a SAVAGE!

Me too. It's hilarious. But you know what, it's absolutely true when you consider his personality VS his stats. Go Strick!!

Hello. Can you tell me what version (model year) of the ProV1x Strick plays?
Thanks!
Derek
Although Steve is not one to switch very often, he switched from the 2011 version to the 2013 ProV1x the day before the Tour Championship.

And did he make a showing of that new ball? Stricker has been my favorite golfer since I began really following this game and it has proven to be quite a ride. And now that he is not playing as often, I really miss him in many of the tournaments. What I admire the most about him is that he is a loyalist to his sponsors and his family and friends. How can you not admire a guy that spends as much of his spare time with his family and his buddies. He loves hunting and he stays in Wisconsin to be close to those things he loves the most, unlike others who profess to be dedicated and then show that they are not.
For me, it is STEVE STRICKER, all the way. He has my support as long as he golfs.
Thanks for the info. That's very interesting. I know he used to play the '07 ProV1 until recently switching to the ProV1x (past year or 2).
Do you know his motivation for switching from the V1 to the the V1x, abd/or why he switched from the '11 version to the '13 version?
I apologize if I'm asking for too much detail. If you didn't already assume, I'm a huge fan of Steve. Also, I have a very similar "dead hands" swing that does not generate excessive spin. That's why I'm curious to know why he prefers the V1x over the V1.
Thanks!!
We spoke to the Tour rep and here is his reply.
Cathi,
Thanks for the excellent explanation of Strickers switch to the 2013 ProV1x. I also have made the switch, although not for the same reason. I found that I increased my distance with the 2013 ball by about 10 to 15 yds.
Sure is nice to have the facts and you folks at Titleist deserve at least 100 attaboys.

Hi all, This guys is amazing. I can't believe his stats with everything 100 yards and in. He really does know how to use his 'surgical' tools (as Bob Rotella calls it). I've watched Dave Philips' review of Steve Stricker's short approach shots and really learnt from it but is it possible to get more tips or analysis of the Strick - perhaps from the man himself? I think this guy's approach shots and putting really justifies more interrogation for us all to learn.

I love Stricker. His swing is so simple and on plane. With the wedges, it's great how he takes the hands completely out of the swing. Straight back, straight through. Doesn't overspin anything and his feel for those in between yardages is better than any player out there. Plus he's one of the best putters on tour. I'd take every aspect of his game in a second.

Followed Steve Stricker at BMW yesterday........awesome!
More today!
Cheers!

Man, Strick just keeps getting better. He just eagled the par 4 15th at the BMW with a swish approach shot.
It would appear that staying away like he ahs done has improved his game. He stays in the mix for the FedEx Cup and he just may be the man to win. His performances are really outstanding and he has been credited with possibly being the best golfer of all time.
And he is doing it with Titleist equipment. Day in and day out, Stricker is showing the way and making believers out of all the pros.

Cathi, Titleist Club Concierge replied to Re: The Strick in On Tour. We spoke to the Tour rep and here is his reply. Steve's motivation going from the 2007 Pro V1 to the 2011 Pro V1x was mainly for increased peak trajectory and distance. Yes, his spin rates were fractionally lower with the ProV1x but that ball had a higher trajectory than the 2007 Pro V1. As a result of this it came into the green at a steeper descent angle so it stopped as well if not better even though it had less spin. He also gained some yards off the tee due to the higher flight and less spin. And there was no sacrifice in green side performance aside from a slight feel/sound difference The reason for the change from the 2011 Pro V1x to the 2013 model was a slight increase in iron spin. T T members,
Seems like Steve was the only one who was not concerned with his limited schedule.
Fresh every tourney and showed it! He is the model of consistency. GO Strick.
Glad he's doing it his way and not falling into peer pressure to play so much.. And that he's stayed with Titleist.
Lou GSan Diego, CA
He also is one of the few on the PGA that carries a 5 iron hybrid (27*).
