Mike, great post.
I would also agree that the Master's is an indication the golf season is officially open. The clocks have been turned ahead, the grass is starting to turn green, the buds on the trees are growing and every golf course in New England is preparing for the season ahead. All of the equipement is finely tuned and ready to start mowing, and most importantly all of the clubs are clean and ready to go.
We start off the opening of the course with a ABCD tournement at our club and follow up with an afternoon brunch and take in the 3rd round. On Sunday we will try and play early so we are done and primed to relax at home with the family and enjoy the breath-taking views of Augusta from tee to green. It is always more fun when it comes down to the last few contenders. The last couple of years have been great, no run-a-way, right down to the last put or even extra holes.
It is nice to watch the jacket being handed over in the cabin. It is truly a tradition, it is truly the Master's.

Mike, I agree...such a tradition and for us here in the midwest the green is starting to return and the masters signals the official start of spring and golf again! Yeah!!
That being said, the sunday telecast is such a thrill to watch along with the wednesday par 3 contest...both are truly magical to watch and enjoy!

This is the best weekend of the year for my golf watching and my wife knows that. But having a 2 year old and a 7 month old is complicating things a little this weekend, so we'll see how it goes. Lucky for me, my 2 year old likes to watch golf.

I try and watch any available coverage the week of the Masters. From the opening phrases, to the trophy presentation it is truly magical.
Usually play one day on the weekend and either get home or watch it in the clubhouse. The other days I am planted in front of the TV with my laptop updating what is going on.
It's like the "superbowlworldseriesworldcupolympics" all rolled into one.

I generally try and play on Saturday and Sunday morning (if the course is not covered in snow) and then spend the afternoon watching the coverage while enjoying a cold beverage in one of the many souvenir cups I have collected over the years from attending.

The back nine at Augusta on Sunday is my favorite sporting event viewing ALL YEAR.
Superbowl, SEC Championship football, love em all but Sunday at Augusta is the pinnacle.
I always have a golf club next to me when I'm watching. This year it will be my new Titleist 714 AP1 52 degree wedge.

My wife is a Georgia native and both of us have attended the Masters many times. Since we have been in Massachusetts for the last 3.5 years,we always have Kathy's famous PIMENTO CHEESE sandwiches during the event. I bring them to the golf course to share. It is a great touch from home. Scott

I fondly remember eating pimento cheese sandwiches (wrapped in a green wrapper) at the Masters tournament with my Dad. 1979.
Here is a great recipe from Southern Living.
Basic Pimiento Cheese Recipe Ingredients 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise 1 (4-oz.) jar diced pimiento, drained 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. finely grated onion 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper 1 (8-oz.) block extra-sharp Cheddar cheese, finely shredded 1 (8-oz.) block sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
Stir together first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; stir in cheese. Store in refrigerator up to 1 week.
We are playing early Masters Sunday and then getting together to watch it - I will have to make these to take! in green paper :)

Masters week is such a great week and really works to get us pumped up for the golf season to really kick into high gear. For me, it's usually watching the coverage leading up to the event, the speculation of what will happen and who the winner will be and then seeing how things actually play out on Sunday.
I would love to say that I am glued to the TV each day for the tournament, but the reality of life sometimes gets in the way of that plan! I will usually catch the coverage in the evening, but know for sure that the DVR is burning a record of all that is happening so I can catch up in the evening. Saturday morning is usually golf as normal then watching the tournament live in the afternoon. Sunday watching he tournament conclude and the jacket being presented caps off a great week.
Here's to another great week of golf to come from Augusta!
And Augusta has always kept their concessions prices very reasonable.....a gentleman by the name of Robert Tyre Jones Jr. wanted it that way.
I might have to get creative. Is your recipe the same?
Any other ideas on Masters foods?

That cold chicken breast sandwich is to die for.

Play golf on Saturday morning and watch the tournament the rest of the day. Get up Sunday morning have my one cup of coffee for the week, read the paper, watch the golf channel then watch the masters the rest of the day. Wear something green on Saturday to the course is the tradition. Do not go to Augusta any more, prefer to watch on the tube. Can see so much more golf, 51" of instant replay....... :-)

Forgot to add, I live in South Carolina and the Masters is a southern tradition......just can't get enough of it.....Augusta is in both states divided by the Savanah River.......sorry its N Augusta, SC....
What a finish! There were so many of the guys in the mix until one by one, they seemed to fall back and Bubba really took control. Congratulations to Bubba!
We may have a new Masters tradition in our weekly golf group. Meet on the first tee, pass out the waxed paper pimento cheese sandies and egg salad, go play and finish in time to go inside and watch the leaders tee off!

I was really hoping to watch Speith and Bubba duel all the way to the end, but unfortunately he faltered at the turn. Bubba just stayed steady and curved the ball all over the place. It was good to see him win. I just love the Masters. Best tournament of the year

Living on the west coast I have time to play 18 after the coverage is over every day! Those are great days!
Mmmmmm Hello Friends!
I love Love LOVE the Masters. Generally I like to start by developing a cold on Monday. This ensures that by Wednesday afternoon I'm 'working from home' for the Par 3 contest, but now with the invention of the iPad I can prop it up and watch the best par 3 tourney in the world from the office. I catch prime time coverage on Thursday and Friday and I also ensure my "honey do list is complete". I also get all my green cloths cleaned and my Scotty Master's covers ready. It's a big weekend.
On Saturday I get in an early morning round and watch the action from the 19th. On Sunday I try to play again in the am and then settle in for a marathon of golf watching from the Mecca. It's the start of the season everyone!

When I am lucky enough to attend, which happens every so often, then I make sure to have the Official Masters' Breakfast:
Egg Salad Sandwich & Whole Grain Beer!
Come to think of it, this can happen at home during the Masters' as well...hmmmm
Steve HClearfield, UT
Like almost everyone else, we book early tee times for the weekend and settle in to watch the coverage. Sometimes we are behind players who think they are playing in the Masters and we gently remind them..."the covergage is the best on the last three holes...so speed it up already"

The tradition in my house is an early supper with the family, then steer clear of me while I stayed glued to the end of the tournament.

On Thursday and Friday I have a dedicated computer at work that will air the Masters online.. I'm pretty good at multi-tasking :) Thankfully my boss is also a golfer so he understands how important this week is. On Friday I'll wear my Masters golf shirt to work.
For the weekend, no tradition... YET.. It all depends on the wife.. If she's working, then I'm in heaven! If she's not working, then DVR is my BFF....
To me watching the Masters is the start of golf season...

I was stoked to see Bubba and Speith in the final pairing and was rooting for Speith. Felt so bad for him on 8 and 9. But give Bubba credit, that dude played very well and finished with ease. The highlight for me was seeing Bubba's drive on 13.. Really? Driver-Wedge... Amazing... Great Masters and had a great weekend watching it...
Tiger who?

I didn't get to attend this year. But I have to admit, the main thing rolling around our club in the lounge area Sunday afternoon was if Team Titleist will be able to hang on to Jordan Spieth when his contract is up...LOL
I usually attend the Player's, Bay Hill, and Innisbrook annually. But the Master's is the Holy Grail. And I can tell anyone that hasn't walked the grounds at Augusta that television does no justice. Those greens are BRUTALLY undulated!!......
