The PGA Tour announced that all (sort of) members will have to play a new tournament site they haven't been to within the last four years.  Obviously the thought is to get more big names at tournaments that traditionally don't get big names.  They say they have the support of the players.  I think it will be interesting how players craft their schedules moving forward and if we'll get to the point where a player is playing a week he doesn't want to (like before a major) just to satisfy this requirement.  Lifetime members (20 or more wins) and certain other players determined by status or age are to be excluded from the rule.

Personally, I like the rule and look forward to seeing players in tournaments they aren't generally part of.  What I don't like is how the PGA Tour has set themselves up to exempt players from the rule as they see fit.  And since the PGA Tour isn't exactly transparent, favoritism will rule.

    Thoughts?

We shall see how the loopholes are closed or open.  I like what they are trying to do, but the sponsors need to fork out the money to have a top notch event in getting the best players.  Some tournaments do a much better job of taking care of the players, families, and caddies.  Some tournaments are logistical nightmares for some or the course conditions aren't as good as others.  Many times certain courses do not fit players skills set.

I agree tdogg, the exemption makes me wonder if this rule is just going to be pushed aside whenever possible or if it really is a rule!

I feel like it'll be like the slow play rule.  The only people who have to worry about it are the bottom tier players.  Does anyone seriously think Spieth or Fowler will get their membership revoked regardless of when and where they play?

It sounds genius. I love how the PGA Tour is starting to change the tour for the better.
