Christie had that never say die, beat the world attitude when she was a teenager running around playing the local courses here in Miami.

Back then, some of us who occasionally played with her at Redlands C.C. near Homestead, Florida thought she was pretty obnoxious. The fact is, we were all guilty of the typical reaction to a kid who says they want to be a world beater. Nobody initially believes you can do it. That only happens to OTHER people. 

What we didn't recognize was that Christie had a confidence in herself so far beyond our comprehension. As an adult player it has turned into a coompetative fire we didn't recognize then and now, we tend to look upon it as admireable.
