Actually, Mr. Fowler won the Rookie of the Year award for 2010. They both played very well this year.

Yanks say Rickie everyone else says Rory, thats it. Everyone knows Rory was robbed, hes the better player, thats the end of the matter.

some people could say that rory had more experience from playing on the euro tour for 3 years,and thats why he was not picked.juat saying

I'm a "yank", but I think Rory was the better player.  He won at Quail which is a tough field, and he did so by a decent margin.  He also had a handful of top 10 finishes, is in the top 10 of the World Golf Rankings last time I checked, and was on the winning Ryder Cup Team (although Ricky did have an amazing comeback).  

Rory also finished 3rd in the last two majors.  I would say that he's the better choice, although both players are amazing and will have success on Tour (whichever Tour they want to play in).

Rory has now left the PGA tour. Bad blood? 

Rory didn't consider himself a rookie, and i think the press made a big deal of him not being picked as the POY.   This new wave of golf writers should be working for the super market tabloids.    Better player this year?...for sure.  Rookie? I didn''t think so either.

Probably a decent argument for both players, but I think Rory should have gotten the award.  He won a TOUR event and played great for most of the year.

Deno - I agree that Rory wasn't a rookie when it came to professional golf, but the criteria for being a rookie is set by the PGA TOUR, right?  What about the guy that plays the mini-tours or Nationwide Tour for years and then makes it to the PGA TOUR.  Is that guy a rookie?  The player's first full season on TOUR has to be considered his rookie year.

Great argument.  I agree 100%.  Even though the players voted, I think the PGA Tour influence to vote for a new young face that will bring the crowds out every week strongly influence the selection.   It was to the players and sponsors benefit  that the ROY be playing every week on the PGA Tour.
