You have to play what works for you. For the record, I am 6' 2" and game a 34" Del Mar. I prefer my arms to hang a little lower and looser.

I am only 5'10" but have always used short putters. My Scottys (yes, there have been 5 of them) are 33" and before Scotty's came along, my gamer was an Arnold Palmer Original, like the old Wilson 8802 model and was 31 inches long. Being a Texas boy and watching Ben Crenshaw putt, I always adopted a similar style. I like my arms to hang more naturally and to have the putter head pretty close to my feet. There is no "must do" in putting. Go with what works for you. Andy North was a crazy good putter on tour in the 70's and he was 6'4" and had a putter that I bet was not more than 30".

In my older Scotty Newport 2 putters, the weights ran 10grms for the 35", 15grm for the 34" and 20grm for the 33".
Heavier weights for the shorter putters. I am six two and felt I needed a little extra weight, so I bought fifteen gram weights and put them in my 35" putters. The additional weight helped me, but allowed me to keep the length. Just food for thought. I do not feel comfortable bending way over when putting. Back issues. At one time I used a 36" putter, but way to upright. Another brand.

I’ve long been a fan of shorter putters. I’ve had both 34” and 33” over the years. I feel more dialed in with better touch on shorter! So yes, I get the feeling.

If either one of the shorter putters is getting the ball in the hole better than your current 35" putter then go for it. If you have never been fit for a putter, I recommend doing a putter fitting with a local fitter. A properly fit putter will match up your height, how much you crouch/bend, your arm length, as well as comfort, what looks good to your eye, with both putter length, weight, and swing-weight - and of course, whether or not the ball is going in the hole. Additionally, a good fitter will/should be able to help with ball position, setup and alignment, etc. All very much worth the time to do.

At 6'5" played a 35" for years. I bought my first Scotty in 2014 and like you, when I tried the 34" I did really like it, but was so used to the 35" that I've just always stuck with it.

You mentioned putting heavier weights in it, I did exactly that because I play on fast greens the majority of the time. When I bought my Special Select Newport last year, I have the really heavy weights in there and it's been helpful.

Putter fittings rarely correlate to height of golfer, other factors are more important such as arm length, torso length, length of legs and of course, how much you tilt your spine at address…

I have longer arms and I am taller so short putters can be ok however I still play 35.75” putters since my spine tilt is not as much as others….

FWIW, the best way to determine a putter is just try them out and see what happens…experimentation!

Thanks everyone,I’ve gone with 34.5” to start and see how that goes.
I just couldn’t ignore the ball falling in the hole or at least scaring it.
I started by gripping it lower in rounds and practice before I pulled the trigger on cutting it.
Figure I can always take the last little bit off if needed but can’t glue it back on. So far,so good.
