One of the things I love about the majors is the inclusion of amateurs and its always fun watching these up and coming stars tackle the tough conditions and huge pressure of these huge events. One amateur that will always stick in my mind is Pro V1x loyalist Tom Lewis. His 65 on the first day's play at St Andrew's in 2011 saw him on top of the leaderboard, and he became an overnight sensation in England, appearing in every sports section.
Although he could not keep up the pace, Lewis made the cut and went on to win top Amateur at the Championship and turned pro shortly after. For me, that incredible opening round 65 is one of my favorite Open Championship moments.
Let us know what moments stand out for you below. I'm looking forward to seeing more great memories created this week at Royal Liverpool.
