Post Covid, my wife and I will be traveling to the Philippines to visit her family who live in the Makati area. I'm aware that most or all of the courses are private. What are the protocols for being allowed to play on these courses? Thanks

When I went a few years ago without much planning in a limited stay, I was unsuccessful to get on two of the courses that I wanted to play which was Manila Golf & CC and Wak-Wak Golf Club's East course (just the outskirts of Makati in Mandaluyong). It was around Christmas time, and as I was told many of the members (Manila CC) were mostly on a holiday. My friends here in the US tried to help, but it was deemed that I had to be with a member. However, Wak-Wak was easier to get on and I believe they allow public play- we had a tee time, but it was me who couldn't go on the day. So I ended up with one round in Manila at Villamor Air Base Golf Course, a muni. It was alright- easy to walk it- parkland tree lined- about 6800 from the back. It was fun.

Many of the other courses out there have public access and are a much better course (playability and challenge wise) than the prestigiously rated course in Manila/Makati- I was told.

Anyway, about 60 miles south of Manila, I was able to get on Midlands and Highlands course in Tagaytay where we stayed a few days. Both very good courses- target golf at Highlands but long and wider at Midlands (love the Midlands). I liked staying there much better as it was less congested (on non rush hours anyway).

Sorry, I'm not much help, but I hope other locals would chime in for your trip.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much for your input!
  4. How did you get a tee time at Wak- Wak? I am moving to PH for 4 months I am worried about my golf game .. what was he process to get on at Villamor?
  5. Usually you should be endorsed by a member of that certain course or accompanied by one. Most of the courses here require pre scheduled rounds. 3 days reservation prior to your target day of playing. once you arrive here you can always call the Clubs and ask about on how to schedule to play on their club
