    Ok so I need everyone's help. I have been battling back and forth with myself about getting a rangefinder. I was raised very old school with learning feel and pacing off yardage from the course markings and knowing how to read and use a yardage book. Let me know what y'all think I respect the opinions of a lot of people on here and need them right now. thanks.

    I have the same range finder and it is like having a caddy. Not only does it give accuracy +- 18 inches, but gives you the true golf range (TGR) for uphill and down hill shots. One last thing. You plug in your distances for your wedge through your 4 iron and it will recommend what club to use for the TGR.

    I love my Bushnell V4! I've found using my rangefinders thru the years that there are many course markings that are incorrect. I can also shoot and get instant yardages to anything. Pretty sure if they allowed them on tour most guys would use them instead of walking off yardages.

    Old school pacing and pins sheets are fine. GPS's supply a lot of useful info, but they don't get you distance to the flag. A range finder takes away all of the guesswork. Get one. You won't regret it.

    I have had my Bushnell rangefinder for 4 years now. Best money I've ever spent on a piece of golf equipment.

    Call me silly but....I like old school. Pin sheets and 150 yd markers work for me.

    I have the Bushnell Tour V4 Jolt. Much easier, quicker to use and more accurate that some yardage markers when playing tournaments. Measures to the flag. I have used Bushnell's for years. This is my second one (I upgraded).

    I actually have both. A GPS watch and a rangefinder. The rangefinder is great, as long as you have a clear line of sight. When you find yourself on the wrong side of a row of trees, as I often do, the GPS can still get you close.

    Definitely get a range finder. I would recommend Bushnell. I love mine and couldn't go a tournament round without mine. But that being said I also use a yardage book too because I like the feel of using one and double checking yardages. I use a combo of yardage book and range finder. There are limits to a range finder that a yardage book can do, and vice versa.

    It will definitely will change your game. I've had a Bushnell and getting exact distances has allowed me to take the guess work out, especially when playing new courses. I picked up a Bushnell Pro X2 this year and have not regretted it.

    Precision Pro Golf (NX7 or NX7 Pro). I picked up the Pro version with slope. It's my first range finder and likely my last. Price point, free battery replacement for life and 6X magnification are terrific. 10 rounds and a few range trips and it's perfect for my 3 handicap game.

    I just got the Bushnell V4 and would recommend it to anyone. Easy to use and with the addition of the Slope feature it will give you an accurate yardage to the pin. I also wear the Garmin X40 which gives GPS yardages, but also tracks each shot and has a pedometer.

    I actually carry both a Garmin GPS watch and a Bushnell Tour V4 with me for my rounds. I like as much information as possible to make my decisions on the golf course. I'll use the watch to get my distances to the front or back edges and then use the rangefinder to shoot the pin. Took 1-5 strokes off a round taking guesswork out of it. It's a prudent investment if you ask me.

    Old school tradition is good if you're just having a knock, but when in comps, golf's hard enough as it is and I need as much reliable information as I can get, not all yardage markers are accurate.
    I prefer a GPS device rather than a rangefinder, I use a Sky Caddie Touch it gives me distance to the front edge, middle and back of the green immediately without having to remove the rangefinder from the bag and laser in on the target.
    OK so it doesn't give me exact yardage to the pin, but on my home course we have different colour flags for front, middle and back so I can add or subtract distance accordingly. You can do the same if you have pin sheets.
    I've also used it for recording scores this year and it provides valuable stats, Fairways hit, GIR, putting etc.
    Why not borrow one of each and see what works for you.

    I've always been a rangefinder guy. I've had a couple Leupolds and they are great and yes great customer service as well. I'm sure the Bushnells are great as well.

    BUT, I started noticing that I couldn't live without my rangefinder and that it was taking time and enjoyment away from the game. Especially when I leave it a hole or two behind and have to go back for it. I got the new Garmin watch that just came out and love it, shot some of my best scores with it and haven't pulled out my laser since.

    Range finder definitely. When you want to know all the distances in addition to the pin. I will use a GPS app on the phone if I'm at a course I don't know to see the layout of the hole, but rely on the laser for the distances. I too can speak to Leupold's superior customer service. I too had one stop working after 2 years and they sent me a new replacement, 2 model years advanced. I had a Bushnell too and that was also great at measuring to absolutely anything you wanted.

    I've been walking off yardage for 40 years and have always been within 3-4 yards of my buddies with rangefinders. That being said, I just bought the Leupold Gx-1i3. It's their basic model that gives only distance. I have used it for 5 rounds now and it is extremely accurate. Locks on to pin reflectors quickly. Also like the fact that now I know exactly how far the poles on the range are as the tees get moved back. Definitely recommend getting one if the budget allows. The next question is, do you get LOS distance, or one with slope?

    My Leupold GX-2i2 gives both LOS and slope (True Golf Range). You can disable the slope reading for tournaments.
