Some of you may remember a few discussions/posts here about Bob Beach, PGA golf professional at the Braintree Municipal Golf Course in MA. In 2013 Bob was awarded the 2013 Patriot Award from the PGA of America among many other distinguished awards as he's dedicated his life to helping others enjoy the game of golf. Next month, Bob will officially retire on June 16th after 43 years in the golf business. Below is a message Bob wrote to his friends at Titleist and with his permission I'm sharing it.
Thank you Titleist for your Generosity and Support
I will be retiring from my job as the PGA golf professional at the Braintree Municipal Golf Course on June 16th after 43 years in the golf business. I entered the golf business in 1976 after caddying at Oakley Country Club in Watertown, MA from 1965 to 1975. I fondly remember buying a sleeve of Titleist Club Specials in Paul Donahue’s pro shop and teeing it up with the other caddies on Mondays at Oakley CC.
I enjoyed my ten years of caddying so much, that after graduating from Norwich University in 1975, I decided to enter the golf business to give back to the game I love. I became the assistant golf professional at Braintree Municipal in 1976. I was an assistant golf professional for fifteen years at Braintree Municipal GC and Newton Commonwealth GC. My friends at Titleist always made sure that I had a supply of new Titleist golf balls to play every season. I can tell you their generosity was much appreciated. When I became the head golf professional at Braintree Municipal in 1990, it was an easy decision on what golf ball I would sock in my pro shop. Thank you Titleist for your generosity and support!
