A few Southern California-based Team Titleist members had a great day of golf yesterday thanks to Scott C.. Scott coordinated everything for this member-hosted TT event including a steeply discounted rate at one of the best public tracks in the area. Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine, CA was in excellent condition despite all the rain we've had this December. We couldn't have asked for better weather on Sunday, though we could have asked for fewer putts on the slick undulating greens...
With the course being an hour from Titleist's west coast office, I asked a couple of colleagues if they were interested in playing with TT members and they jumped at the opportunity. We had a Titleist employee playing in every group.
For on-course activities, we had prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive. The former was won by Dr. Kovatchian's 11-YEAR-OLD son, Jack, which is especially impressive with a handful of single-digit golfers in the field. The long drive was a nailbiter with 3 balls within inches of one another. It was such a close call the group had me make an executive decision. Since Scott's looked to be the longest and he was such a gracious host, I gave him the nod.
Another highlight was from TT member KCicilioni who closed out the day with an eagle on the par-5 18th. Kurt had about a 205-yard approach over water, into a breeze, to a very dicey tucked pin. He hit it to about 10 feet and buried the putt.
A massive thank you to everyone who was able to make it out. I think it's time I stop being so surprised at what a great group of people these events bring together. I will start working with Dale V on the San Diego edition for early spring.
Last but not least, here's our mandatory group photo. (You can decide whether we are trying to distort our identities or if the starter needs to work on his photography skills!)
