Lots of things to be thankful for, like when my son took up golf in June this year, I made his golf time a priority over all my other games, and naturally, I have missed out on many regular games in my circle, but that's my choice- it's what I wanted all these time and I enjoy my time with my son and I would not change a thing.
Yesterday, I was scheduled to meet one of my regular game guys for the first time since mid July. We met at Crystalaire CC where we first met years ago. I was chatting with another friend at the practice putting green when someone from off the green waved and said hi. I thought the guy was saying hi to the guy I was with, but I also halfway waved back.
A minute came by and the guy who waved to us came over closer. It was my buddy whom I was supposed to have a game with that morning. He was much thinner, no facial hair, shaved head, and he said he couldn't help it- it all fell off from chemo.
I had no idea that was what my friend was going through all these time and he's still going through it. Nevertheless, he played well and shot even par. Our match was close together on the front nine, but he killed me in the back nine.
At the end of the round we talked a little about his condition and what he was going through and I was glad to hear him and his doctor say that he'll die from other causes, but not this. He also said that golf has been a good distraction.
Sorry, guys... I don't know what I shot, but I am so thankful for my buddy is a fighter.
