I'll be traveling to Myrtle Beach in a few days and was wondering what some of the "must play" or top courses are. I already have plans to play the TPC course but I'm looking to add a couple more as well. Thanks in advance!

Barefoot Golf in North Myrtle...True Blue and Caledonia, Pawley's Island....Blackmoor Golf Club, Murrells Inlet....there are a lot of courses in the area where the TPC is.....so if you are staying on the southside of MB, I would explore the courses in the Pawley's Island or Murrells Inlet area....they are some awesome courses....True Blue and Caledonia would not disappoint you.....

The top courses up there are private....

Thanks for the info, Chuck. I have a good connection up there so private courses might still be feasible. Several people have mentioned true blue and Caledonia along with Tidewater so I will definitely be looking at those. The amount of courses up there compared to where I live is crazy; it's almost overwhelming trying to decide. Haha

Myrtle Beach National (Kings North), Witch, Wizard, is good choices along with all mentioned above.

It's so tough to suggest courses without knowing what kind of budget you have. Also, I'd like to know where you are staying as it can be quite a hike (1hr+) from Pawleys Island to the courses just over the NC/SC state line...Enjoy your time and hopefully you have great early March weather.
  10. I enjoyed the Witch, Man of War, palmetto and TPC Myrtle best of all. Have a blast, all that golf you cannot go wrong!

Going with my kids in June. If you have not booked courses yet, you may be disappointed. Playing Legends Moorland and Heathland, Barefoot Love and Norman, Grande Dune and Grande Dunes Members Course.

Look at www.mbn.com to book online
    or
I have used Brian Noblin a number of times - he can book courses for you - give recommendations, book accommodations, etc. Send him and email or call him - he is very responsive.

A couple privates that I have played and think you might enjoy are the Surf Club and The Dunes. Grande Dunes Members Club in N Myrtle, along with Debordieu and The Reserve at Pawleys Island would be on my list to play. Check with your contacts. I live about two hours from MB and avoid going up there because of all the traffic. I only go up there when we do golf events in the spring/fall and an occasional round in the non tourist season. Have played the TPC a few times and it is OK, gets a lot of play. MB has many courses to choose from, but I prefer Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island, unless you are playing the old courses in MB like Pine Lakes, Surf Club and The Dunes. With respect. I lived up there when I was in the AF in the late 60's/early 70s and was not a golfer. Has really changed since then.

I agree with Paul , Brian is outstanding to work with. Not sure where you are stating but the Legends has great offers.

Try The Heritage Club in Pawley’s (south of Myrtle). It’s great.
  16. I really enjoyed The Dunes, Caledonia, and Heathland at the Legends. Thistle up in NC is also a good time.
  17. Have a good trip sir
    Played there a loved it
All the courses I played were very nice
  18. Sea Trail Golf Club has three distinctly different signature courses, designed by Rees Jones, Dan Maples and Willard Byrd and can be enjoyed by players of all levels, but are challenging even to the accomplished golfers. In addition to golf they have two clubhouses with full-service golf shops, lounges and dining. Located in Sunset Beach, NC area- website: seatrail.com It's has old school golf feel and usually good lush condition and fairly priced compared to many other courses in Myrtle Beach area.

#1 if your connection can pull it off would be The Dunes Club. A very close second would be Caledonia. Try to make sure you tee off #1 if they are booking double tees. Finishing on the 105yd 9th is a little anti-climactic compared to 18 over the water and in front of the "boys" commenting from the balcony/porch on your shot. After that I would put Heritage and Tidewater at the top. The Dunes and Caledonia will set you back $150-170 unless you have a very good connection. Heritage and Tidewater, $110-125 possibly. If you want a great course on a budget give Man O War a try. Very challenging but fair, and a good price. It's been steadily climbing in the ratings each year because of it's condition. Another underrated is Wild Wing. Again not very expensive and always in great condition. World Tour is a good course, as long as you don't try to look at it as being a copy of the hole it's supposed to be modeled after. Not really very close on that aspect but always in good shape and a good course. Also Kings North, at Arnold Palmers Myrtle Beach National.
Been going there every year for the past 20 and played near all of them. We finish each year on Caledonia, and can't always get on The Dunes. The others I've mentioned we hit either every year or no worse than every other year.
