Big fan of Rick Shiels. I’ve also tried the PXG ball out on his recommendation. Still prefer the Pro V1. Not bad to try something new out though! Just prefer and loyal to the Pro V1!!!

From Rick’s video, “nobody makes golf balls like we do”. Apparently “they” don’t, either. Made in the same plant in Vietnam as the infamous ball sold by a membership retailer. Both share the same dimple pattern.
Another club vendor released a new version of their branded golf ball. My curiosity is how much market share do they need to garner to make it worthwhile to slap their name on what is otherwise a DTC product that otherwise sells for less than 2/3 of the branded generic?

If price is the driving factor over who actually controls the design and manufacturing, why not save money with the DTC options from the same plants?

That said, I’m comfortable with the quality behind the price of a Titleist ball that runs me on average less than 2 beers a round.

I would try them just to see what I'm not missing.

Saw this but sticking with my trusted Titleist Brand. No brainer. Just seeing the ball when I am lining up a shot and reading Titleist instills confidence.

Good for PXG (and any other manufacture) trying to make a competitive golf ball. Competition improves the breed. Remember one aspect of golf ball manufacturing, and that is other companies tried to make their own ball without success. They then ended up buying other companies' ball manufacturing plants (and patents!) while still being only marginal players on the world ball stage, though.

Robert Ralph Parsons, better known as Bob, is an American entrepreneur, billionaire, and philanthropist. In January 2015, Parsons launched Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG), a high-end golf club manufacturing company. He is a Marine Corp veteran who pushes that in his ads and offers extreme discounts to veterans and first responders. He served in Vietnam and earned a Purple Heart. Is his equipment and golf balls as good as everyone else, according to him they are better. He is a great marketing tool for his company. I have hit his irons. No better than what I play, T300s. I just did not hear that sound I was looking for. I am doing the PGAHope clinic, and he is a sponsor of it and one of the coordinators had a set. Seems to being getting a small share of the market. Titleist has been around since 1932 and they pride themselves with their customer service, the quality and their R&D. Second to none. You ask how PXG is going to try to compete, deep pockets. Parsons has them.

The reality to me is that Titleist still makes the best and most consistent ball on the market. If this weren't the case, the Tour Pros would start making a shift to a superior ball. If they aren't making a change, there clearly isn't anything there to support a shift.
