i have been having some issues with my driver off the tee so i was thinking of hitting my 3 wood off the tee because i can hit it almost as far as my driver. is this a good choice? thanks joe

joe, if there is no appreciable difference between the driver and 3 wood for you and accuracy with the driver is a problem beyond the first cut, go with the 3 wood. distance without a viable second shot will not do your scores any good. go with your area in which you can control your shot and your round will be more satisfying.
if you insist on find satisfaction in your driver though, get a teaching pro to straighten you out with it. if take some time though and watch the tour, you will see that just about all the pros mis hit their drivers from time to time. the best will have slow even back swings and a controlled swing through the ball. when they get outside of that type of rythim and try to hit the ball a little harder is when you see them have problems.

I wouldn't see where this would be a problem? If you still have close to the same distance off the tee with some added forgiveness I would think this would be a good choice. Whatever get you in the fairway right? Good Luck.

Of course it is.

ya, it's actually pretty common to use a 3 wood if you can hit it straighter, and farther then your driver

As far as I'm concerned, whatever I'm hitting better that day is what is gonna be coming out of the bag. Hopefully, your driver can get some love soon

Played the other day with my father, and was faced with a slightly different situation. I was warming up prior to the round, and when it came time for the driver, and after a few shots I noticed the head twisted on the shaft. I had to play the round with a 3 wood, and it did help. Not only was I in the fairway roughly the same amount of time as I am with my driver, I had better angles into the green with only 1 club more into the green. When I am not hitting my driver well, I always fall back to my 3 wood. Hope this helps at least a little.

I am also hitting a 910f 13.5 rip shaft of the tee. For some reason I cant get the distance off the tee with the driver and get a much better ball flight. I am thinking there is too much ball spin coming off of the driver and much less on the 3 wood.
