  1. I've got a new Special Select Flowback 5.5 and am as happy as Larry with it in terms of performance. However, the head cover provided is the regular blade-style head cover. In practice, as it's a small mallet head, the head cover fit is not brilliant - it's a struggle to get on and it doesn't close very well. Not wishing to lose (or use!) my shiny, new, bright-red head cover, I've stuck a generic cover on for now...

Does anyone know - Is there any way to check that I have the correct head cover? JT

Have a look on the Scotty website, there's an archive section there with details of putters, headcovers etc.

    Thanks for that. Much appreciated.
Yeah, that’s the one I’ve got but it’s a midsize mallet putter design and it’s a tight squeeze to get the head cover on.
It takes longer than I’m prepared to take to put the cover on and I’m worried the original cover will come adrift so I’ve ordered a generic mid-mallet cover on line.
    Thanks for your help.

I have the old squareback and it has the same headcover as the other scotty out at that time the silver with the red spots on it and it was a bit tight at first but soon fitted fine...
How you finding the new putter?

    Sorry, I missed your response....
The putter is working brilliantly, thanks for asking. I've sold all the other "spare" putters I've kept over the years - I kept them "Just In Case" but I didn't feel I needed them any more - the cash is waiting for the lockdown to end before a Spree!!
So confident with the new beast!!

  7. Hi JT
I know this is an old topic but
I bought a special select flowback 5, from my local pro shop today.
They mistakenly gave me the yellow Phantom X head cover. I only realised once I got home and I jump online to read up more about the putter that I noticed that the red head cover was the correct one.
I rang the store and explained the issue, they told me to return to the store to try the read one on, she mentioned that she didn’t provide me with it because it didn’t look like it would fit. But I’m pretty fussy with those sort of things so I went back and I’m of the exact same option.
They are so ill fitting for the mallet style putter you need to force it on and off the Velcro doesn’t close and the cover looks distorted on the putter.
I basically asked her back for the yellow phantom x cover and went back home.
Shame they’ve over looked this for such a premium product.

typically Scotty headcovers come in 4 different shapes/models - Blade, Mid Mallet, Mallet and Square Mallet. The Flowback 5 should fit in the Mid Mallet cover but I'm guessing the store assistant had you try a Blade version, hence why it was too tight a fit.
The select line blade covers and mid mallets look identical from a design perspective but the mid mallets are wider to accommodate the larger head size.
  9. Christopher,
Thanks for that. The Pro who fitted me reckoned it was the right one but we has been twiddling with a (stunning) Del Mar before settling on the Flowback. That said, the Del Mar isn't exactly a blade....
If the lockdown ever ends I'll take it up with my supplier!!
I think the bright red cover is a bit too conspicuous for its own good so I'll probably stick with the more subtle black generic cover that I bought in any case.
There is zero chance of me getting rid of this putter as it is both a thing of beauty and a joy to nail putts with.

yeah the clearly given you the incorrect one, i game the same putter and the headcover is a mid mallet one. i know this because its wider than my club cameron blade cover
  11. Thanks Sam, I'll go back.... They'll be fitting my new 3 wood anyway!
