Why do you play the Pro V1 or Pro V1x?

A little late on this but wanted to post to see if i could get a response.  I play the ProV1 and just realized that I should probably play the Prov1X (after reading the posts) as I have been spinning the ball off the green, but even more I have been trying to get myself to hit a cut instead of a draw and think that a ball that spins less is probably the answer other than changing my swing.  I have hit a high draw since I was in high school and find that it is getting more and more pronounced.  My question is, do you think I will benefit from the ProV1X?  Will this help my ball flight not be so pronounced leaving me with more baby draws and straight ball flights?

    Hi Jesse,

    Thanks for the post.

It sounds like the Pro V1x could help you with a couple issues. First, the Pro V1x will spin less into the green, resulting in fewer shots spinning off the green. Second, the features of the Pro V1x may help you reduce the pronounced draw you have been playing.

It sounds like you should certainly try the Pro V1x out. Take both golf balls from various shots and note the performance of each. This will help with your decision making.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

I play Pro V1 Because of the drop and stop on the greens from the fairway. The other reason is that's the ball God Plays. Ha Ha

Bubba, played in a four man scramble today and three out of the four were playing ProV's. Our team captain was not right in his mind and playe a cally ball. We tried to enlighten him but he was just to hard headed. The three of us range in age from the low 60's to myself at age 70 and to the old man in his late 70's. The outsider with the cally is in his late 50's. We did very well with birdies on the last six holes of the back nine and the first two holes of the front. It was a shotgun start and we started on the 7th hole. All in all we had 11 birdies and 7 pars. They paid net fron and back and we won the back nine. Never in my life have I ever been involed in a round where there were 8 consecutive birdies, it was a great day.

Wow! Great playing, Monty. That is a very impressive round! Looks like you have your foursome set for any future tournaments.

    Keep up the good play.

  6. I have played golf since the summer of 1964 and have used every type ball developed since including having every alloy - from 1986 Ymha ST-30 Aluminum Bronze alloy irons to beryllium copper irons, and also carbon headed irons (Ymha Secret Irons) and conventional steel headed irons and have found the PRO-V 1 the most predictable ball ever, ever, ever made! Great ball - Great Work Titleist! The ONLY True Ball in existence!!!

I have been playing golf for my 47 years and have played Titleist the whole time. I don't hit it as far as I used to, but I still use a Titleist Pro V1. I firmly believe 95% of all tour pros would also use Titleist if they weren't paid to play another ball. Keep up the good work Titleist !

TT, I go with the Velocity, save for the occasional "Whoopsie-Doodle" I'm in/near the fairway and on/near the greens, if I could put I'd be Golden. Really enjoy the "security" that the Velocity gives me, it just feels right virtually every time. Had two "Holes in one" (both with DT 100s btw & Thank You!)and feel like my next one is coming anytime! Thanx for all your work! KW

If the greens are relatively soft and holding I will play the ProV1x. If they are relatively hard and not holding so well, I will play the ProV1. I don't want to back a ball off the green when they are soft or be unable to hold the greens when they are hard.

Spin, Schwin, I just played over 30 holes with the same #4 Pro V1x ball. It's my fault I hit it in the trees. I took a lazy swing on the 17th hole.If I could only putt, about 20 of those holes should have been birdies. It's just a dependable, easy to use ball. It makes me look and act like a better player. I guess I'll replace it with a #1 Pro V1x ball in my bag. I miss that old ball.

I have to play the ProV1x since I have 110mph driver speed plus I want less spin coming into the greens. The ProV1 spins way too much for me and always has. I like the feel of the ProV1x off of the putter better as well. When I was younger I would play the Tour Balata 90 and 100, the HP2 Tour (briefly),  then the Professional and then the ProV. I am in my 40s and have been playing Titleist religiously since around '83. Titleist has been in my bag longer than my current putter which I started using in early '85 and I have not switched either one since they have been in the bag.

  12. I played Erin Hills a week ago and had a hole in one with a prov 1x,on hole no 9. I think prov 1x are great on around the greens.

I play the PRO V1 Because of the great performance you get from every swing. Started playing this ball being of the year because my High School coach gave me a dozen and ever since I've been playing them. Shot my lowest scores with this ball.

I play the Pro V1, love the soft feel off the putter and the wedge. But I have been experimenting with the Pro V1x as I think the reduced spin off the driver may help me find the a few more fairways a round. So fair i have not noticed much of a change into the green with the X, but it is noticeably firmer off the putter.
