    Hey TT,

What ball do you guys play with and how often do you change it?

    Thank you!

  2. I play Titleist ProV1 and the current generation of balls I can play much longer than the previous! The old 384 Tour Titleists, I had to change out after 2-3 holes!! I can get multiple rounds out of a current ball if desired but I prefer to play about 18-24 holes before changing out, assuming I don't lose it first! LOL

This is a comment for the TT Staffers to follow up on.
When playing a single ball for more than lets say 36 holes it starts to get discolored and sticky to the touch even when cleaned. Does this tackiness and wear impose any sort of "Drag" on the ball that may influence ball performance?

    Thanks,
    Dr. K

I'll play the ball as long as I can providing it doesn't get "damaged" (cart path scuff etc).

    Thanks,
    Bert
  5. I like to start each round with a new Pro V1x. If I lose it, I will usually take a used ball out and finish up with that. I can't stand losing 2 new balls in a round!
  6. That is a good question. I tend to play them for as long as I can, but that is probably not a good idea.

Play 'em until they're gone or damaged beyond salvation.

Pro V1x for me. I always start every round with a freshly marked ball and if it makes it through the round "unscathed", it goes into my shag bag. Repeat.

Chris G - I do what you do. If the balls make it to the end of the round, into the practice bag. I use an odd-numbered ball on odd numbered holes, even for even # holes.
I remove the ball from play if I birdie the hole (kind of rare) or hit it 300+ yards (very rare; like once/year).

I use the new Trusoft, if I keep it off the cart path I will use it 2-3 rounds unless it decides to go AWOL.

I always start a round with a new ProV1 or V1x (haven't decided which one is best for met yet).. Only time I'll change it out is when i lose it, damaged by hitting the cart path, hitting a tree OR a hole in one :) that's it.

If I'm lucky enough to go the whole round without losing it, it goes into my bag as a spare.

Not as long as I would like. They often are donated to a tree or a lake.

Thank you all for sharing what you do.

I play with Pro V1x and usually it lasts me between 27 and 36 holes, but it all depends if it is still in good shape, not damaged, but most of all, if I don't loose it!!

It would be great to get a comment from the Team Titleist staff!!

    Thank you
  14. I like the NXT Tour and consistently find myself favoring it over the Pro V1-really just cost conscious. I always start with a new ball and if I am lucky enough to not lose it all round, I usually retire it. Other than that, if the ball get scuffed or something happens to it to affect its flight or fell, then I'll switch it out.

I play ProV1x's however I never seem to have them long enough to get a good judgment. I most surely end up donating them to the Golf Gods.

I also start every round with a fresh one. I can generally get through the round with a V1x, unless I'm playing a shorter course with a lot of full wedges into greens, then I'm doing well to get 9 holes out of it.
  17. I lose 1-2 before getting the chance to re-use them another round! lol.

I like the Pro V1x and play 'em till I lose them. That is pretty much what a Titleist rep told me a while back. I play 'em with scuff marks but when I feel a burr I take them out of the bag. Just found out you can take a cigarette lighter and hold the flame on the burr and it will smooth out. Have not tried it yet but if it works just more rounds with the best ball on the market.

I'm playing the 2015 Pro V1x and I usually get a full round out of them. A few scuffs from full wedges, but I am impressed with the durability of the current balls.

    Grindelwald,

As long as the ball is not damaged, I still use it..
Think for us amateurs it doesn't make a huge difference if the ball is not 100% clean anymore

Great question! I generally start each round with a fresh ball. If I'm just knocking around with one of my kids, I may start with a ball I've already used in a previous round.

The hope is to finish the round with the ball I started with and then toss it in the shag bag or keep 1-2 in the bag to use again.

Would love to hear TT staff chime in on how playing characteristics are impacted the longer a ball is in play.

    Great thread!
