  1. My Reference Info:
    - Ball I typically play Yellow srxn XV
    - Typical driver swing speed 107-10
    - Handicap 7 - improved from 18 +3 years ago - yes I have a day job of 60 hours a week, never played much before - much more consistent - good ball striker
    - Competitive - Golf Channel Am Tour Player Placed 5th in flight at Nationals 2016
    - Received a sleeve of Yellow Titleist Test Balls last week

    Particular Club/Shot Feedback
Driver - the ball was incredibly straight very little side spin and went my normal healthy distance
Long Iron - straight great ball flight and trajectory off the face - maybe even a little higher than normal. Great stopping/hold into/on the green - vs current ball that rolls out a little more on green (big plus to stop and hold - supports distance control)
Short Iron - good control - great stopping/hold into on the green - no big spin vs current ball that happens
Chips - rolled out a little more than current ball
Putting - rolls very nice - a little hotter off the putter face than my current - rolls pure

Results - 1 round played with test ball - tied for my best round ever - changed after 4 holes on a familiar course
More testing to come tomorrow and in the near future - as long as I don't yank anything and lose it.

Overall Thoughts - I love this ball - as a huge fan of the srxn XV I would immediately invest in whatever ball this is. I would love to know - so I can support and join #TeamTitleist #invitemetojoinTeamTitleist #NewConvert

Thanks Titleist for including me - I hope I have been helpful.

Trackman comparison due to weather in PNW. Very interesting to hear what these balls are. Different feel than any ProV, felt softer and ”heavier” of the face. Compared with ProV, CHromeSoftx and it feels more like the CS but higher and longer but not necessarily a good thing. Suprised a few time when i thought i had struck it bad but it turned out ok. Not sure about how workable yet though. Will post more after outside rounds.

Finally gave the test ball a whirl this afternoon. Played it against the Kirkland Signature 4-piece. The prototype was not nearly as soft as the K-Sig. Distance was about the same, sometimes a little longer but not by much. Biggest difference was around the greens. K-Sig was much softer on short-game shots and the putter. I think the ball I tested was a Velocity prototype but I could be wrong. Thank you to Titleist for the opportunity to test your product and to give feedback!

I received the latest test ball and was surprised and happy. I don't play Titleist because I am older and not able to compress that type of ball enough to get the maximum benefit from it. The ProV1 and the X are just pricey for me, with how I play. I am a 15 handicap, and I tend to play with a softer ball. With that said, I really liked the test ball. I was impressed that it played as well as my regular ball. If priced right I would definitely buy a box and play with them again. Good feel, good spin, comfortable around the greens, and a very good and true putter. I liked it a lot. I really was surprised with the feel and distance that I experienced.

Upon receiving a test sleeve I had to run to the local practice range and see how they performed around the green. I play the NXT tour on most day's and felt the prototype was very similar. Though they are softer coming off a wedge and putter. Run out for me was a bit less than the NXT Tour and I felt they checked up a bit better. On the course is where the you could really see a difference. Flying higher, longer and with less side spin coming off all the longer clubs. Really like the ball. To me it felt like a cross between the Chrome and NXT and given a chance I will definitely put these in my bag. Thank you Titleist for giving me a chance to experience them.
  6. Mike: do y'all have various balls out on test? I got a sleeve of white ones, played them yesterday and loved 'em. I've been playing TP5 and Tour Preferred for a while, and before that Callys. If this "test" ball makes it to market, I absolutely would buy them. So, If these do make it out of test status and onto store shelves, please let me (and us) know what name it's sold under. Thanks.

I played a round with them today, a lot further off the tee, right down the middle.

I was very excited to receive my test sleeve of balls last week. I played over the weekend. This was probably the softest ball I've ever hit.. Not sure that is was low compression or not, but it was soft. I distinctly remember hitting a drive in the screws and not feeling hitting the ball. I've never felt that before. I heard it when I hit it, but didn't feel it. Kinda of strange sensation. It wasn't as long as the other balls I play, like the pro v1 or the B330s, so a little disappointing, since I out drive my buddies occasionally, but didn't while playing this ball and was at best 5 yards behind, when at best I'm 5-10 yards ahead. It didn't spin as much as the other ball I play so It didn't check up. I did however make more one putts than I ever have, so it was great on the green.

This ball is fabulous on the greens. True roll and a great feel. Please let me know when they become available to purchase. I see many 1 putt greens in my future with this ball.

  10. I really like this ball. I was struggling with my regular ball, 8 over on the front. Switched to this ball and had 9 pars on the back, 8 birdie puts of less than 15 ft, did not make any of them but just missed 5 of them, all tap ins. 9 gir in 9 holes.
  11. Got to play the Titleist prototype balls this week with great anticipation. I was not disappointed. Based on one round I would say these played somewhere between an NXT Tour (which I prefer) and a ProV1. Distance was really good with really good control. Couldn't tell a lot about their durability after just one round but was pleased with all aspects of the ball. Would put in my bag any day. Looking forward to testing more prototypes.
  12. Played the test ball for the first time a couple days ago. It helped me shoot 7 under my course handicap. Needless to say, I'm a huge fan and very impressed by this ball. I found it long, controllable and predictable. Yellow color with slight lustre is perfect. Very durable too. I can't wait to find out what this and I will make it my regular ball.

I received my sleeve of white prototype balls and played them side by side with my ChromeSofts. The most important qualities of a golf ball to me are greenside control and feel of the ball.

Feels softer to me than the NXT Tour S and actually softer than my ChromeSoft-putter face impact is soft but solid. It made my cally feel "clicky" (and I thought that ball was softer than the new ProV1). Greenside control was similar to my ChromeSoft but the prototype did have more run out but nothing horrible.

As someone mentioned, it's like between a ProV1 and an NXT Tour S (which is where I feel the ChromeSoft is).

Thanks again for the opportunity to test. I hope to get more info-I may go to my friend's mancave which is equipped with his own TrackMan to get better metrics.

  14. I liked this test ball a lot, especially off of my irons. A little softer than the pro v1, and it seemed to settle pretty close to pitch marks. It felt great on chips and pitches. Seemed to bite nicely on first hop with pitches. Prototype ball flew high and straight; great compressed feel on long irons and hybrid. I would definitely play this ball.

Thank you for allowing me to participate in the test.
  15. The weather finally broke here in Northern VA ( no rain the past day or two) and I actually had time for a quick 9. Temperatures was about 48 degrees, chilly and overcast. I was able to play the test balls that I received last week. I typically play the NXT-S. The test ball had a nice straight flight with the driver. Distance was about the same, maybe a few more yards gained. I did notice that the ball felt softer around the greens and checked up nicely. Also the ball rolled true when putting. Overall I'd give this ball an A and I would definitely put this ball in my bag. Compared to the NXT-S, not much difference. I also can't wait to get out in warmer weather and give the test ball a run for its money. Like most on these boards, I will play until the snow flies. Testing is testing, when comparing ball against ball it doesn't really matter what the weather conditions are, because you are still comparing how the ball performs in the given moment. Thanks Titleist for giving me the opportunity to test one of your products.

I received my sleeve of white proto type balls in November. as much as I like doing this test,I wish I could have tested in better weather conditions, temps in the 40's make it difficult. They feel as good as my NXT Tour s's. Didn't find a whole lot of difference in performance, again hard to tell in cold weather and wet conditions!

I’ll go from the green to the driver. On the green they felt about the same as regular nxt. Around the green they felt a little softer but reacted very similarly for me. With the irons in the fairway and off the tee felt soft and again very similar to my current ball. With the driver distance was good maybe a touch longer and ball flight was similar maybe a little higher. All in all a good ball. Weather was not ideal as it was a little bit on the cool side 55 or 60.

It has been wet and colder in Southeastern NC. The yellow prototype balls played better than the NXT Tour S that I usually play. A little longer and straighter off of the tee. With my irons, it was longer and stopped on the greens better. Once I adjusted to that, I had several pars with birdie opportunities. I will want to purchase these if they hit the market.

I received mine a couple of weeks ago but just had an opportunity to play them this week. I liked the soft feel of the cover especially chipping around the greens and with the putter. I played a Prov1 with the "proto" ball on every shot so I could both see and feel the difference. I found them to be about the same length with the driver. However, I did have one monster drive with the "proto" ball that was 20 yards longer than I have ever been on that hole but it was down wind so I cannot say it was all the ball. I found the ball felt a little rubbery and would balloon into the wind with mid-irons. I also found that it spun less with short irons. I had gap and pitching wedges release rather than stop or spin back. I do like the durability of the cover, it still looked brand new after round. At the end of the day I think I am still a Prov1 and Prov1X guy, they both seem to perform better for me.
  20. I tried the Titleist prototype golf ball, I thought it had a soft feel but I hit most shots 5 to 8 yards longer. In my mind they went straighter too. I really liked them a lot. I am a 19 handicap but shot a 41, my chip shots went that 5 yards longer and hit the green instead of being shot and the ball landed soft. It was fun to play. I wish I knew what they were so I could buy more - to me it was better than the DT Soft I tried a few months ago.
