I leave it in and putt with a bit more of determination, but when others in the group want it out, I can deal with it.
  2. Easily my favorite rule change. I have a Monday league filled with golfers of all skill levels. It's a good group of guys, but there's 3-4 who are slower than dirt. This has been addressed in league meetings without specifically calling them out, but they couldn't care less. Sometimes I'm on the green waiting for an eternity to putt.

We have a general ready golf rule, so now with the flag in, there are certain scenarios where I just putt out. This way I can help look for lost balls, or even rake a trap for somebody so play can speed up. ANYTHING to speed up play.
  3. At first, I left it in to speed play for putts from longer distances. Now I am finding it to be an excellent alignment tool for shorter putts.

I usually am the first out most mornings. If I play in a twosome we usually play in 3 hours, on my own 2 to 2.25 hrs and 3.5 if we are a forewomen. I never saw someone take the pin out all year. It now seems strange to take it out. I can only remember 3 or 4 times the pin was a detriment.

Leaving the pin in doesn't bother me a bit. I walk a lot by myself and play quickly. I've left the pin in for years. It's just quicker so the new rule is nothing new for me.

Never thought leaving the pin in would be a safety issue...

Some of the pro's are commenting on leaving the pin in, no rakes, and pulling their own clubs. Lots to be worked out there.
BTW, my phone just notified me the San Diego courses all open with restrictions today. ...Makes sense to notify me, I've played more rounds in SD than in WI so far this year.

    I'm with you Doc,
I hate leaving the pin in. With our COVID cups, I feel like I have to drip the ball into the hole on the very last rotation to ensure it doesn't bounce out. I'm thankful for golf no doubt, but I'd love to see full drop cups and the pin out at the player's discretion.

I too will be back to "pin out" as soon as we are allowed to touch the flagstick.

Someone joined my group on a slow day and when I started to pull the pin they barked at me as if I broke the rules and wasn't showing proper etiquette. Seems weird to leave the pin in but whatever works for folks. I don't find it makes a difference either way.
  13. Little did we know that by a year later we wouldn’t have a choice about pulling the flag. Just glad to be able to play and enjoy the great game of golf. Stay safe everyone.
