New and improved technology is certainly helping a lot of guys.
I know a couple of older guys in my club / sweep who have changed clubs and balls and recon they are hitting the ball better and further than ever before now.

We all have to play our own game

With your weight loss it may be another year before you see yourself getting somewhat back to "normal". That's one heck of a change in your body and it's going to take time to acclimate. A friend lost a bunch of weight and it really messed with his golf game. An entire season was pretty much a struggle. Look at Brooks Koepka, who says he lost 10 yards with his recent weight loss.

I'm 60 and 7,000 yards is tough these days. Although I haven't lost a lot of distance, it's there. In between clubs, pull the longer club. I can't reach a 530 yard par 5 anymore and long par 4's are a bugger. But that doesn't mean I can't play some good golf.

    Good luck!

I'm still playing as good as I played when I was in my 20's and 30's.
My power is still present and my decision making has improved 1000%.
Keep Practicing your game from 100 yards in!
The only thing I can't really do is bomb it over the trees I used to when I was 18....those trees are really tall now.

  4. As a 64 year old with back fusion surgery 6 years ago, I can say it is hard but you have to keep moving forward. A shark only stops when he dies. I lost about 10 to 20yards since the then but it could have been worse if I did not do PT prescribed stretching and core strengthening before golfing. At least do the stretching. Tom Watson is big on this part of your training. Doing the exercises at least 5 days a week has maintained my golf sanity.

I’m 66 this year always played with standard lofted irons right up to my AP2 716’s. I’ve always had a good swing nice and consistent, but the last couple of years I’ve noticed that I’ve begun taking an extra club.
So this year I’ve decided to to have a look at the AP3’s so I’ve booked in for a full iron fitting at St Ives fitting centre.
As for exercise I’m a bit over weight but I’m on a exercise program at the moment because I had a total knee replacement in January and told that I need to walk a lot, so sounds like a good excuse for golf.
I’m looking forward to the fitting.
