Took a number of full swings with wedges today. Found errors and corrected them. Supposed to be hitting pitch one quarter shots in my mind just cannot stop the club at 4 o'clock. The full swing with my 56* was great. Moved to position three from sand. Finally got out. Could tell I have been away for a while. This PT is really working, no pain. Taking the baby steps is helping. Thinking will be able to hit the driver in two weeks. Hitting nine iron on the range around 125. Happy after being off four months. These short game exercises are helping. Maybe one more week, according to the Master Teaching Instructor. My form has improved immensely, accordingly to the pro I take individual lessons from. Love the positive reinforcement. Back to PT on Thursday and then lessons again on Tuesday. Told the head of our interclub team to put me down for the May match. Feel that will be game ready. Pretty short course to get back into team tournament play condition. Going to try to play with my men's group around April 17th to see how well it has come along.

After our workouts at the clinic this morning. Putting, pitching, chipping, short irons, midirons, fairways and driver, we preceded to the first hole for a captains choice for a one hole game. Boy was I in for a surprise. After hitting my drives so well on the range, pull hooked it on the first tee, two hundred plus out in the rough. !!%@#$?#%. Only one person in our group put the ball in the fairway. 197 out. Well pulled out my 21* hybrid, thought if I hit it down the middle it would hit short on the front and bounce up to the hole. The world is full of good intentions and less executions. Pulled it left six yards short of the green into the pond. Right distance wrong area code. The pro did defend me and say I had not played since Dec 14th. Think he felt sorry for me. Once on the green, major uphill put with a three inch right breaking put. Greens slow, guessed it, did not get up the hill. Greens damp. Another excuse. Need more work before I start taking on my men's group. Confidence level not where it needs to be on the course, but was striking it well on the range. Something positive out of the day. Hakuna matata. Only three more clinics till graduation. Chipping still a nightmare. Oh well. There is always tomorrow.

Glad to hear you were on course. That’s a big step from December! It was one hole and needless to I’m sure you had a million thoughts about well or bad this would be. If you swing on the range, better days are coming. Take it one shot at a time.

Thanks, Don. Actually the PT with the direction of my Physical Therapist has really helped develop the core around my misaligned spine. My flexibility is improving weekly as I continue exercising daily and visited the senior center in our city looking at their machines this morning and took pictures to show my Dr at my session in the morning. Plan on joining. They have some really awesome equipment for the seniors in my community. Only $140 a year for city senior residents. Together we will decide which ones will help keep me on track. Have completed 21 sessions with him. My neurosurgeon called in another referral today so I can continue with the PT for a while longer, so it will be covered by my insurance carriers. The golf refresher lessons are helping as well. My instructor is one of the teachers and when I was warming up before the clinic was hitting my 8 iron around 140 yards dead straight. He was very pleased as was I. Think we might be making some progress. PT and exercising is getting me there with very light range workouts. Do not need to reinjure the lower back or hips. Moderation at my age is what we are shooting for. Seems I have a really good support TEAM and that is very comforting. Signed up today to play with my men's group next Wednesday. Have to get my head back into the game, so am going for it. Hakuna matata.

Good to hear. Always a challenge getting back after some PT. It took me sometime to get back after some back issues. Not sure that I’m all the way “back” yet.

My physical therapist said felt I could go out this week as we are finishing up the lessons and we have completed twenty three weeks of PT (17 more to go). Once I have completed the PT will be joining the senior center. My therapist suggested talking to one of the trainers there to reinforce the machines he has suggested for me. Sounds like a good plan. Got back on the horse today and that bad boy felt more like a bucking bronco. None of my shots were that bad, just out of position, which made for a difficult day. Only two out of the fairway. Really could feel the layoff. Had 4 triples, 4 doubles, 6 bogies, and finished the last four holes with pars. Three of those pars could have been easily birdies. A rough day but very pleased with the finish. Will be playing again on Friday in my men's league and hope to improve on my rough 98 today. Think a lot of my issues today were a result of second guessing from the lessons and worrying about how I would play. Think as I continue to play golf will come naturally again as I play more with feel and tempo. it will come naturally and the shots will improve. After the round still had some pain in the lower back and may go back to the pain management center for a possible steriod injection. I have had success with those in my hips in the past. The PT is working as my flexibility has definitely improved. PT is something I definitely needed and the weight machines can take it event further.

Second round today on the course much improved. A sweet 39 on the front and a bit tired on the back for a 49. But very happy with the 88, a ten stroke improvement over Wednesday. Think I am ready to close down this post and say I am ready to play again and the pain was not that bad. Standing does cause some issue with the lower back but figured out an exercise that helps that, while waiting for my partners to putt and hit. Also meeting with my PT next week to set a new schedule, in that my insurance is running out for the year and will be joining the senior center and using those wonderful machines to continue the development of my back muscles. Hit some sweet promising shots and did have one birdie on the front nine. The grass is greener in the fairway. Hakuna matata and thanks to everyone for their kind words. Chuck out.
