Is a hot dog a sandwich?

This debate has been raging on for a while, so I thought it would be fun to hear what Team Titleist has to say... especially seeing as a hot dog at the turn is a staple for a lot of golfers out there.

I voted, no. That was my gut reaction to the question. And my stance was further solidified after going down a rabbit hole of internet "research" on the topic.

You gotta watch those rabbit holes! They can take you to some weird places.

I will state that we are bond by definition: two pieces of bread with food such as cheese, salad, or meat between them.
    - Have we evolved? No

    A (Hot)Dog is a (Hot)Dog and a sandwich is a sandwich.

Hey TAIII,My wife has family in the Jacksonville NC area. When I'm down there,North Shore CC in Sneads Ferry is one of my favorite courses to play.We stayed in Topsail this past June. Great course and really nice people. Don't see a lot of folks from Sneads Ferry pop up in the TT forum.Just wanted to give a shout out.

Just to be contrary, filler between a top and bottom bread is roughly a sandwich. Splitting hairs to limit it to 2 separate slices. That, and I have time to kill on idle conversations.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg said yes, who am I to argue? Either way, I will continue to eat them at the turn.

I enjoy a cliff bar & water at the turn. Add a Gatorade if it’s hot.

Steve Rooks and I just finished a brat after playing Brandon’s Sheep Ranch. Is a brat a hot dog? Oh, here we go again.

Oh, dear. Seriously? If you can’t tell the difference, then come to Wisconsin wearing Chicago Bears gear, The Bears are not the Packers and don’t confuse a brat with hot dog. Let the education begin.

Well, the meat inside the bun is either a bratwurst sausage or a frank. A brat with spuds is a bangers and mash. A frank with beans is something entirely different. So is the term “hot dog” generic enough for franks, brats, polish sausage, and even red hot franks? I never said they were identical nor do I ever want to wear anything in Wisconsin but Titleist/FootJoy clothing. :)

Yes I had a family member that had a restaurant Mexican if somebody ordered a hotdog it was on a bread and a hotdog sliced in sections . So basically a hotdog sandwich.

A hot dog is not a sandwich however a must at the turn regardless of the time of day that is. Nothing goes better with a round of golf than a hot dog and a cold beer. I'm ready!

Not sure what it is. I avoid them during a round. Inevitable I would be heading for the bathroom 2 holes later.

I've never in 40 years heard a dog called a sando.
  21. I vote yes. If a hotdog isn’t a sandwich because the bread is not separated then a lot of other foods we call sandwiches would have to be relabeled as well. Phillies, Italian beefs, subs of any kind, and any other similar food would no longer be a sandwich.

A hotdog is not a sandwich. A club sandwich is a sandwich.
  23. If I eat anything it will be a hotdog or spicy brat if they have them at the turn. A hotdog is a hotdog not a sandwich.

@Mike D...I voted "No". Have you ever had a "burgerdog" that was made famous by the Olympic Club in San Francisco? They also serve it up at snack shack in Silverado in Napa; story has it that the people behind the one in the Olympic Club also are involved with the one in Silverado.

Here's an article about the "burgerdog"

Here we go again. A sandwich is meat between two pieces of bread. A Hot Dog is a piece of meat and the bun is split in two. After you fill it in with your choice of sauerkraut, onions, chili, or relish, you certainly have a sandwich.

Yes it is. Bread and fillings is a sandwich. So is a tortilla and fillings a soft taco or a burrito?
