my bag has 48* beryllium png; Hogan equalizer; SM4 52* & 60* wedges.
My all time favorite is the 52* :)
it helps me more than the other 3 combined.
yes, the sweet spot shows signs of wear - but I consider that a badge of honor !
I'm a 19 index, play once a week.

My strength is not how much spin I can generate, but my trajectory imagination for pitches and chips, that I rely on, combined with reading greens to calculate release and rollout.

Obviously my index reflects my inability to hit greens in regulation. Scrambling in how I make majority of pars. I love the phrase: "just a chip & putt".
My playing partners keep asking, "how did you do that?"

I admit to not being the best putter; but I know my chances of sinking a 4-6 ft putt to save par, is way better than my partners from 10-12 ft.
And I thank my 52 everytime :)

Would your new wedges add more spin to necessitate altering my current mindset?

I have played your wedges in the past with good results. Two seasons ago, I switched to Cleveland RTX4's for the forgiveness offered with perimeter weighting. I also moved from 56' & 60' to 54' & 58' as it fit my gaps better.
My question is "will I give up the advantages of perimeter weighting if I go to your SM8 wedges?"

Question for you…I recall reading that with the SM7s, the spin was higher on the plated wedges because they were spin milled, and not as high on the Jet Black or Raw because those wedges cannot have spin milled grooves.

Is this the case with the SM8 wedgest too?

With SM7 and now in SM8, we are cutting the grooves based on the type of finish so that there is no spin difference whether you choose Raw, Tour Chrome or any of our options.

All of our wedges are spin milled, and we inspect every single groove to make sure they are conforming to the rules of golf, but also produce as much spin as possible. That has been the case since I first started spin milling the grooves.

Love hearing that, the look of the black heads is a delight to me. Especially in bright SoCal sunshine.

For a person with a handicap of 20, how should I approach buying a new set of wedges? Which degree and bounce should I consider? What should I expect from just changing wedges ?

Forgot to add that the 56 has 10 degrees bounce and M grind.
The 60 has 8 degrees bounce and M grind.

My favorite grind is the M. It’s a mid-bounce wedge, with shape inspired by some of the best players I’ve ever worked with, who like to manipulate the club to create shots around the green.

In comparison to my SM7 which I love, what has changed on the SM8 that I should switch over. I don’t have anything to complain about with my current wedge setup. Only that when In some deep rough, shots from high on the face can loose a little more power than expected.

With a stock “wedge shaft” being what the club is designed with, how much difference is there with flight characteristics if someone switched to a DG your issue S300 shaft?

Now I feel bad. I was fitted late in the season last year for a new set of clubs. I replaced my previous set of Volkey wedges with the "new" SM 7. I still have not used them because they weather has not favored golf . Now I am ready to use them, but find they are outdated already.!.

Different question: I have really improved my putting game with the new oversized grip. Would it be permisable/desirable, to try the oversized putter grip on a wedge club ?

It depends on the player. We see quite a few players that will match their wedge and irons shafts.
