  1. To date I've only played three rounds with the Tour Speed, but the early results are encouraging. I especially like the way it comes off my irons and hybrids. Very crisp contact and it hold the line very well. I found this to be especially true under windy conditions. I also like the feedback I get off the putter when using the Tour Speed. Greenside spin is about the same as I get with the Tour Soft, but the distance is slightly better. I particularly like the alignment aid printed on the ball. As stated I've only played three rounds, so the durability factor has yet to be determined. In summary I found the ball to be of the expected Titleist quality and wouldn't hesitate to put it into play be it a recreational round or the club championship. Thanks for the opportunity to experience the Tour Speed.

I didn't receive any of the test balls but like what the ball claims. So, I ordered 2 dozen just now. hopefully, I will experience a better ball, for me, than the AVX.

I've been playing the Tour Speed exclusinvely the last month. I truly see only one difference between it and the AVX balls....the Tour Speed seems to have signifigantly better stopping ability on full shots to the green than the AVX. I'm swithced for good.
  4. Due to weather only been out once since receiving the sleeve. Thanks for allowing me to try.

I have been playing the Taylor made project A, and really like it. I’m not certain what the tour speed competition is . So, I’m a 12 handicap with a moderate swing speed. Had a great feel with this ball with all clubs in bag that day. My driver is a png g15, my irons And fairway woods are old as well, powerbilt tps8. Putter is an old white hot #4.

I’m not one who can make a ball dance and back up on the green , and could not with this ball.

Overall, I’d buy if the price point was close to the project A, but I just got an email this morn from titleist advertising a $44 price. So while I like this ball, It’s not worth the $9-12 difference to switch. Thanks titleist for the sleeve, love to participate in the future

It was a pleasant surprise to get this sleeve in the mail. I already had a round planned a couple days after so timing was perfect.

I am admittedly as amateur at reviews as I am golf golf itself, but I paid attention and made mental notes as to the things that stood out to me.

Off the tee - I enjoyed the feel and spin level of this ball off the tee. It wasn’t too soft and I managed to keep it in or close to the fairway off the tee a majority of the day. The low spin off the tee and trajectory stood out quickly. As for distance, It seemed to be a couple yards behind the chrome soft balls I usually play, but (and this is the kicker) I was more consistent to the fairway due to what seemed to be lower spin of the tour speed ball off the tee. My slices and hooks (I hope to one day be able to call them fades and draws) weren’t as severe and kept them in play on the mishits. I will take consistency and in play for a couple less yards all day.

Hybrids - felt similar to driver. Stiffer feel but forgiving spin.

Irons - I didn’t notice anything that jumped out in a negative way. Felt fine off the face and 7 iron and up stopped nicely.

Wedges- I really enjoyed the feel of this ball 100 yards and in. I don’t putt the greatest so short game is how I maintain being a bogey golfer. (Putting is why I stay a bogey golfer....) This ball hit and stopped within a couple feet of where I landed it multiple times on 80-100 yd shots and (when I made good contact) would check nicely on chips. I have been using my SM5s for awhile and they still grabbed this ball nicely.

Putting - full transparency here....to judge this ball on the way I putt wouldn’t be fair...I liked the solid yet “smooth” feel it had off my putter face. I can say I was more confident in the ball than my stroke. Thankfully, because the wedge shots felt good and the spin and control was consistent there, we ended up in 2-putt range most of the day.

Overall, I like the feel of this ball off the tee. It seemed well fit for my swing speed. I hit it well (for me) and kept it in play due to spin off the tee. Loved the short game play with this ball. Putting, I will be testing further in this category in the near future. Oddly, I remember referencing “Goldilocks” at one point to my playing partner. “Not too hard, not too soft. It was just right.”

I will confidently play this ball again.

Thanks for the chance to try it out.

This is really nice, I still got a full box of the EXP01 that are untouched as I have been going the older ProV1xs that I have sitting around.
I am going to stop and grab a box to use next month, as this month I am participating on a competition where I am using only two piece balls, the Velocity is my ball of choice for the Hard Rock Challenge.

    Field test Summary/Data
Number of times tested 3/18 rnds plus planned distances from below mentioned yardage
Weather conditions- avg. temperature 84, humidity 60%, wind 5-10 mph, rain conditions 0%
Comparison balls- Titleist AVX, cally Chrome Soft
Clubs in bag- Maverick Driver 9* Sub Zero, Rogue X 3 & 4 Hybrids, 6-G Irons Rogue X, Wedges 54* and 58* Vokey Spin Milled
    Fairway and Rough Test Distances, 175, 150, 125, 85, 45
    Test Site- Oswego Country Club
    Current ball played- Titleist AVX
    Handicap: 7
Avg Swing Speed (Trackman) 96 mph
    Age 62

Distance driver: In testing from the T box driving distance was a dead heat with the AVX, Chrome Soft was an avg of ten yds less. Both into and down wind conditions. Ball flights were more spin producing a fade for me in lieu of a draw bias. I did not really like the sound on impact compared to the AVX

Hybrids: I did find the Tour Speed to have a 10 yd avg distance gain over the AVX, Chrome Soft was a better 5 yds less but Tour Speed wins this slot. Again sound was "plastic" type. Ball flight was good and into the wind with a low apex it maintained its path with good roll out

Irons: I give this category to AVX although I was impressed with the stopping capability of the Tour Speed. I get a better release with the AVX on the initial green impacts. Chrome Soft did have a better iron feel than either one of these but I am bias to the Titleist product when it comes to golf balls

Wedges: I have this slot a dead heat with AVX and Tour Speed in regards to stop/check, and distance. Feel was better in the AVX, for again the click on impact doesn't do much for me

    Over all summary:
I do think the product has its targeted players and mid cappers to high cappers alike will benefit from this ball. Of course everyone is looking for the ultimate distance which is great especially as you age. To me personally, based on the slight dollar difference of the AVX, I am hanging with the AVX for my specific game, they have not failed me yet. For cooler weather my back up is the Tour Soft or Tru Feel when leaves are a pain in this part of the country as well as temps moving into the mid 50's
I do appreciate Titleist reaching out to the normal golfing Joe's for opinions and feedback and I always appreciate the sleeve of test balls
    Best regards

Thanks for the sleeve of Titleist Tour Speed balls. I usually use Pro V1x or Bridgestone RBS balls.
For reference, I am 72 years old, a 10.2 Index and hit my driver 195-205 yards. Played our course last week using the Tour Speed balls and shot 76 from our 5,800 yard tees-what's not to like about balls that perform like that!!

For me the Tour Speed balls were equal in distance with both woods and irons. Feel was also comparable to the premium balls above. For chipping and putting, I thought the Tour Speed was in the medium softness range, which I happened to like.

Looks like a great addition to the Titleist line, thanks again for letting me try them out.

Made the time to test the new Tour Speed ball Titleist was kind enough to send and will start by stating all testing was done strictly with 100% genuine Titleist equipment only. As an average golfer at best I took three AVX balls and all three Tour Speed and started on the putting and chipping green before I had a chance to lose any on the course. Felt very similar putting and if not mistaken could swear the Tour Speed had a lower chip flight and tended to roll out a little more but ended up very close to AVX in relation to hole. Nice click off the putter. With the irons they seemed to travel very evenly in the air but again I felt the Tour Speed had a little more roll out. As a somewhat older player distance has become less important to me and my accuracy has improved as a result. Thus, I lose fewer balls making durability more important. This ball shines in that area. With my old trusty 910 driver it felt like, and call me crazy, the ball was a little heavier but bore through the air nicely and in my case very straight. I liked that bonus. I've been fortunate enough to get to test a few Prototype balls and what made this experience different was knowing the ball I was playing will be the ball on the shelf in your shop. Thanks again to Titleist and keep up the good work. You help make this maddening game enjoyable. Regards.

  11. Thanks for sending, 1st off. I’m a 12 handicap with moderate swing speed.

“ backing up” is not part of my repertoire , but I was able to get the ball to stop after couple bounces.

With my powerbilt tps8 irons and fairway woods, loved the feel . Same for my years old white hot#4 putter. Very much impressed with the feel off my png g15 driver.

I’ve been playing the TM project A and found that ball better green side than the tour speed. I’ve found, for my game, the project A was overall a better ball.

I would buy the tour speed if it had a price point similar to the A. Sadly, found out via today’s email, priced at $44.

Titleist, thanks for allowing me to test. Don’t give up on me, still play the NXT tour on occasion.

  12. I was pleasantly surprised to receive the sleeve of the new Tour Speed balls as I wasn’t aware of the new ball. The last balls I received were the AVX which were ok but not enough to make a switch. Currently I’ve been trying the Bridgestone Rx and the TM Tour Response balls with good results.
The first day I tried them I hit the Tour Response ball first to get a basis of comparison.
After a few holes I switched to the Tour Speed ball. Wow! When I hit it with my driver the feel was amazing. It had a soft feel but it also felt like it just exploded off the driver. The distance was amazing. A lot further than normal. I hit a wedge to the green and the ball hit, bounced once and stopped. I normally don’t have a lot of spin on my irons into greens. They had just punched the greens so I wasn’t sure if it was the ball or the punched greens.
I played again today on our other course which wasn’t punched and the greens are hard and fast in this Texas heat.
We have one hole that’s water all on the left side of the fairway and the fairway slopes left causing most balls to roll into the water from the fairway. When I hit my drive it went further than most balls I’ve ever played and it went straight. Normally I have a 180-200 yard second shot to the back pin placement but today I only had 160. You have to hit over water to a diagonal green with bunkers protecting the hole in front and behind. Very intimidating.
I hit my shot and immediately I knew it was going to hit and roll into the back bunker but no. It hit and bounced once and stopped on the green.
Putting it has a very nice soft feel off the the putter face.
After my round I went straight to the golf shop and bought a dozen.

Was able to play the new Tour Speed ball last Friday. This year I have jumped between the Pro V1x & Tour Soft balls and I have found the Tour Speed matches the best of both balls. Some general observations:

    - really liked the softness of the ball on short shots. Feels like the V1x in this regard.
    - off the driver the ball feels like the V1 or V1x and was a great feel when I struck it well.
    - distance wise the Tour Speed felt like Tour Soft and trajectory was great
    - the putting alignment stripes were helpful and I didn't have to mark the ball myself. Photo illustrates the lines on the Tour Speed.

Conclusion - I will put this ball into play with confidence.

Largely a disappointment. Hard feel for putting and fragile cover. This photo taken after 9 holes w each ball.

  15. sorry i'm posting late I want to test the Tour Speed on two different types of greens. one bent other bermuda . Off the tee the ball felt cushy soft with more roll out then the Pro V but not sure if it was any longer then the ProV . Hybrid and fairway woods Is where I notice a big difference in carry and roll out seemed like 5 to 7 yards longer . Both courses I play even though the greens were two different types of grass, both were playing soft that day so Irons and wedges into greens the ball stop with every little roll. I'd like to try the ball when the greens were a hard and dry to see if they'd hold without to much roll. When it comes to putting I love the feel of the Pro v none better the Tour Speed with the line aid on the ball is a plus and felt nice maybe a little to soft but that could just be me. As for being durable I played both rounds using two of the Tour Speed balls and they still look great. I've played the TM Project (a) and see them similar in feel but the Tour Speed is like a upgrade because of the distance I got from the fairway to green. I shot 78 and 79 won the Nassau so it's a great ball . To the point the price of the ball and what I want from a golf ball . It's a best buy
  16. Thank you Team Titleist for selecting me to test the Tour Speed Ball. I just got the balls a couple of days ago. Played with the ball a couple of rounds. I was impressed with how the ball played. Driving the ball is great it flies straight and had good yardage. The sound off the driver was solid. Fairway shots were also very good played well with roll. Shots into the green with Longer Irons and Hybrids held the green, i was very impressed with that. Pitch and chip shots also rolled out a little but not a lot and I also could get spin with the ball. Putting it felt very solid and rolled true. Overall a great ball with all golf clubs. I liked that it did well with the driver and spin around the green. I would recommend this ball. It also did not have any signs of wear so you can play a lot of rounds with the same ball.
  17. Good morning

Frist I would like to thank titleist for the chance to use there latest and best ball

Well I am not a great or even a good golfer 95-105 but love the game and that’s what it is to me a game not a job

I used the balls reluctantly as they cost a lot more then what play with usually

Well I must say the ball played well for me as I didn’t lose it and shot a 95 and love it

It played very well off the tee — 210 - 250

Love it on the green as it seamed to jump off my putter and I like that Kind of feel
My new Scotty has no insert and I miss that

Oh by the way I only lost one and that is good for me

Thank you agin for the opportunity to use this ball - you better players will get nothin from this post but players like my self with high handicap will under stand - yes I would buy the balls and for no other reason I seamed to try try to play a better game

  18. Played the selve of balls and hit multiple shots with the Titleist and the ball I have been using. The other ball seemed to have a little more jump off the driver.

But the Titleist was very strong and straight especially in a Kansas wind. Ball seemd to drive through the wind better and if you got the right trajectory it really took off.

Felt relaly good around the green and seemed to come off the putter really well. Iron shots were great and anything 100 yards out to the middle irons stopped quickly. I don't spin the ball around the green and the course I play has very slow greens so a little run out doesn't hurt me. Want to try them elsewhere on faster greens. Good ball. I'm a mid to high handicap so to hit something that consistant was great.

Thank you for the sleeve of balls! These were fantastic!! The new thermo cover definitely holds up. These balls hit trees, cart paths and occasionally my clubs and there was never a scuff. I played this sleeve at Copperhead at Innisbrook (home of the PGA Valspar Championship). I normally use the cally Chrome Soft but I will be changing to the new Tour Speed.

Feel- The ball felt as soft as the Chrome Soft but yet seemed to jump off the club quicker than the Chrome Soft.

Distance/Flight- I'm still relatively new to golf so I only use a 3w because my driver only hits balls to the right.
But...this ball had great distance! I use a cally Rogue 3w and usually get about 200 yards on a drive. I was carrying an extra 10-15 yards with the Tour Speed. It seemed to have some good roll on the fairway after my tee shot.

Spin- Again, relatively new to golf. My chipping has been a work in process. I usually hit the green and then have a lot of roll. However, this ball seemed to stop much shorter than the Chrome Soft (which is good for me!).

Conclusion - Please send more!! :-) You've made me a Titleist True Speed user now! The picture of the ball in my hand is the same ball I used after the entire 18 holes. And I NEVER play a whole round with the same ball.

Hey TT- while I wasn’t able to test the ball nursing an injury, I gave the sleeve of balls to my father.

    Here is his glowing response!

I played 18 holes with the new Tour Speed golf ball today, August 9, at my home course Quail Hollow Country Club in Concord, Ohio. I am a 65 year old male with a 7.1 Index. My usual ball of choice is the Titleist Tour Soft.

My overall impression was that the Tour Speed is 10-15 yards longer off the driver than the Tour Soft. It was 5-10 longer off my Hybrids and irons. The Tour Speed had better stopping power, less run out than the Tour Soft. I was very pleased with the overall performance.

I have grown to like the Tee Square alignment on the Tour Soft, disappointed that it is absent on the Tour Speed. Also the white paint on the Tour Soft is brighter, on both new and experienced balls. The Tour Speed golf ball is duller.

I will definitely put the Tour Speed in play, I bought a dozen on my way home from golf. I was surprised that the Tour Speed price point was $39.99 per dozen, given that I play over 150 rounds a year they will take a bite out of my retirement income.

Thanks for the opportunity to test the new Tour Speed golf ball.

Thanks again from a family of Acushnet loyalists!

I tested the sleeve I received in the mail of the new Titleist Tour Speed for 2 rounds side by side with my current ball (cally Chrome Soft).
I'm 53 and currently play to a 7 from the white tees. Not a long hitter but fairly accurate and very good around the greens.

The tour speed feels good off the tee and with the mid and short irons, its not as soft feeling as the chrome soft but you can feel it compress and it still has a great feel. The green side spin is nearly as strong as the chrome sidt but not quite as crisp. It putts true and has great alignment markings.

At the price point it falls in it seems to be in a class by itself.
All in all a great ball especially for the price.
