Thank you, Titleist, for providing an opportunity to test the new Tour Speed! I am currently playing to a 17.7 and am 58 years old. I really enjoyed playing the Tour Speed. I thought that the Feel was softer than ProV1x and was similar to AVX. Distance was similar to AVX, longer than ProV1. I thought the Spin was predictable and expected for me. Control was also as expected. Putting was not as clicky as ProV1x but firmer than AVX and Tour Soft. I have played the Tour Soft and I think that the Tour Speed is longer while still retaining the Tour feel. I would choose Tour Speed over NXT Tour. It is great to see that Titleist continues to evolve ball design for everyday players. I would absolutely play Tour Speed.
  2. So I play a lot of golf and ball speed on driver is 181 consistent, I just purchased the tour speed balls and only thing I’m noticing is that the balls are getting torn up quickly after a few holes and few shots the balls are being cut and chipped so called it seems like any one else noticing that ?

I want to first thank Titleist for this opportunity to test the new Tour Speed ball. A little back ground on myself, I'm 59 yrs old with a 9 handicap and a swing speed of 93 mph.

I've been using a Bridgestone Tour-B RX for the past 6 months. But I wasn't happy with their change of the cover which increase the price point. I did love the ball though.

So when I found my sleeve of Tour Speed sitting in my doorway I was excited to give them a try.

At the chipping green I tried both balls out with some chip shots and pitching from 30 to 40 yards out. The tour speed did feel softer but it still released the same as the RX. The pitch shots with the Tour speed had a little lower trajectory than the RX but both had the same amount of release.

I played three rounds with the tour speed using the same ball. Here is what I experienced

Distance: Off the tee both balls traveled the same distance (carry and roll) 235 yards on average. The tour speed had a more piercing lower trajectory than the RX. However with the hybrid and mid to long irons I gain an average of 4 yards with the tour speed. The tour speed again had a lower trajectory. With the wedges I didn't notice any gain in distance.

Feel: The tour speed does feel softer with my Irons and woods but it felt the same off full wedges. The closer I got to the green with 1/2 wedges and chips it did feel softer. I can't explain why I didn't feel it with full wedges. With the putter however it was really noticeable how soft the tour speed was. It was consistent off the putter which allowed for better speed control. The RX was firmer and it sometimes sprang off the putter face and went 6' by the hole. That only happen now and then but was always in the back of my mind.

Durability: This is where the tour speed really shined for me. Normally I played the RX for no more that 27 to 36 holes before I had to replace it due to scuffing. I have played three rounds with the new tour speed with no scuffs. In the 3 rounds I've hit 3 trees, 2 cart paths and hit out of 5 sand bunkers with no scuffing. I'll be playing this ball for the 4th round tomorrow.

Outcome: With the lower price point, excellent durability and the few extra yards I gained with my irons I will be switching to the Tour Speed.

Thanks again Titleist for making a great ball with an even better price point.

Hey all, got to play the tour speed yesterday. It cost me a round of drinks for the guys in front of us. I calculated my distance and it went further than I thought it would. I felt bad for hitting into them so I bought them beverages. Great ball, I really like it a lot. Green side was amazing. Even my playing partners commented on the "tour sauce" on the ball and Im not a spinner but she was dancing and I loved it. #TT

Let me just state that i am Tour BX / Pro v1 user. So when the Tour Speed came in hte mail, i wasnt too excited about it because frankly i am very content with the BX / Pro V1 and i have little intentions of changing. But hey, it was free sleeve, gives me a chance to contribute to the TT forum, and i get to check out a 2020 ball, so i said wth.

My SS is around 106mph. Hdcp 5. But before we continue i just want to preface and say, i am not good enough to tell you guys about my "distance control" and or whether the ball is producing enough spin. Those are all on swing by swing basis and i am no robot. I care about the carry distances and if the ball bites the greens when it lands. i dont care much about how they feel because all the balls i have chosen to play are all "soft" whne you find the middle of the face. Some might feel a little more solid but they never feel hard.

First hole, dropped 2 balls, BX and Tour Speed. I couldnt hit a better back to back ball. I was really glad because i thought id had to play the whole front to see the distances. The TS ball felt nice and flew about the same as the BX. I walked up to the balls and they were both neck to neck. i whispered to myself WOW. And this kept happening over the next 4 holes. Bear in mind hte BX is the longest ball i have ever played. i stopped hitting 2 balls off the tee after seeing the same results on the first 4 holes. Thats all i needed to see, otherwise id be there all day hitting tee shots, but that is seriously impressive.

As far as irons goes there really isnt much to say. Again im no robot and every strike differs slightly from another but this TS ball is really good guys. It was matching my BX balls with all my irons and in more than a few occasions it flew slightly further ( i do not like it when that happens). But i prob struck them better prob.

But all in all in what i have observed closely through out 18, its flying the distance its supposed to and thats all i care. It checks up just fine flying into the greens. And of the few holes that i needed to chip, the TS performed just fine. i played all sorts of different short chip shots, and the ball performed very well. Again this is a superb ball guys.

But one thing i def noticed is the TS tends to fly slightly lower (but still high enough). i shot a 77 with only the first strokes i put up with the TS ball. But i came away highly impressed. Will i switch ? TBH, i wouldnt mind if it was $25-$30. but 40 is a tough call. But i tell you what, i dont score any better or worse with a Pro V1 or a BX.

  6. I used the balls for 2 rounds - one at Sunridge in Carson City Nevada and one at Edgewood in South Lake Tahoe. I liked the feels of the balls off the tee and around the greens. I did not detect a big difference between this and the Pro V1 that i normally use. the one benefit was that the ball did not seem to get the yellow stains after hitting a tree a tree the same way a Pro V1 does.
  7. I tried these over two nine hole rounds. I found them (for my swing) them to be slightly shorter than the AVX off my driver and irons but very straight, I'm assuming due to low driver spin.

The cover seems closer to to the Pro V than the AVX but (again, for me) slightly less consistent. I had a hard time with consistent chip shots. Sometimes it seemed to run out as expected and other times is checked up too quickly. Shots that I wanted to spin were great, I had no problem spinning wedges to tight pins. I think it spins at least as much as the new AVX for short pitches and 1/2 wedge shots.

I don't really see much of a role for this ball in my game, but I really appreciate the chance to try it.
  8. Played the Tour Speed for a second time and things went much better. Straighten out the hook with my driver and was getting very good distance. Iron shoots were going about 5 more yards and on the greens the ball spun very well stoppin within a couple of feet from the ball mark. Chipping was good with good spin of my wedges. Putting went well and had a nice click coming of the putter blade. All in all may have found my new ball.

    Thanks,

    Titleist

So put this ball it to play today and I was quite pleased with the performance. Seemed to be rather straight off the driver and had some nice drives. I thought the hybrids and irons is where this ball shined. I seemed to hit my clubs a least a 1/2 a club longer when I hit it solid. Overshot some greens.

Also it has fantastic short game spin, I mean, really good. It kinda shocked me. I think It has better wedge spin than AVX. With my 60° wedge, I got a couple of shots to just stop when they hit the green. Felt just fine off my Putter.

Saw the Titleist commercial on TV claiming the this ball is faster then CC, RX & Tour Response, I think this ball will give CC and RX a run for their money based on price, performance and name recognition.
When I have to change the color of my golf balls in a couple of weeks because of the falling leaves, I’ll buy them instead of AVX.

I would 100% agree with your post, I have that ball dancing from 125 yards and in. TT
  11. It’s quite exciting to see another release of a urethane type covered 3 piece ball to rival others in the same price bracket. I watched a lot of review videos on the EXP01 and a lot found the ball performed really well.

My have to try and get myself a sleeve to try. I just recently purchased -PROV1X so excited to try them. Still searching for my right ball after using the chrome soft x since I started playing.
  12. Thanks for the sleeve of balls, I especially liked the alignment arrow, very helpful. I prefer the ProV line of ball, I am considered a ball snob, haha. I prefer the high vis yellow balls as well. Glad ProV came around to offering this option.
  13. I finally got to play the Tour Speed golf balls last weekend. I'm a senior golfer(over 60years old) 62 and a 11 handicap. My distances-Driver 230-245 yds, 7 iron 150-160 yds. I play a right to left shot, med-high trajectory. I didn't notice any distance gain off my driver. I found my draw was more manageable and actually hit more fairways than normal . the ball seem to explode off the face of my hybrids and got a modest gain in yardage. My iron were about the same as my current ball( Bridgestone Tour B rx). I like the feel of the Tour Speed softer than the ProV1x and harder than the Pro V1. My full wedge shots from 70-110 yards out were within 3 feet of my ball mark. I found spin and run out of my chip/pitch shots around the green were very manageable. Putting was with the Tour Speed was good. Not too mushy or too clicky (sorry to use such scientific descriptions) . The durability was excellent. I played the same ball all 18 holes and it looks like it can go another 18.. (see photos). Over all I liked it so much I picked up a dozen yesterday!!

  14. What a nice surprise. First impression with 1st putt on putting green - too soft. But then I took it took it to the course. For the next 5 rounds I gave it a try.

As I said, what a surprise. The ball performed better than my expectations. Feel I was getting more distance than my ProV1X. I liked the ball flight and felt it performed very well chipping around the green. Once I got used to the feel on the greens it was great. The ball rolled as I would expect a putt to roll. Enjoyed the feel around the greens.

Based on my experience, I am buying a dozen. Very well could be the replacement the ProV1X (never like the recent changes to the ProV1 and the Prov1X - only made ball selection more difficult). May have a winner with the Tour Speed.

Thanks for sending the sleeve of new Tour Speed balls. An injury prevents me from making full swings right now, but I was able to test it out with some putting, chipping and short pitch shots. It feels solid coming off the putter but not too hot. Chips had good control and I was able to control spin with wedge shots as I backed up to about 30 yards. Based on greenside performance, I'd say it's likely that I will play this ball -- just need to get to a point where I can make some full swings with it.
  17. Thanks Titleist for sending me a sleeve of the Tour Speed balls... It's like you knew I am currently on the search for a new ball. I've been playing the swoosh One Platinum now for 4+ years. After buying 2 closeout cases of my favorite ball, I am down to my final dozen. This ball has definitely entered the mix as an option to become my gamer !!!

I've played 3 rounds with the ball first starting at my home course in Sacramento Ancil Hoffman. Warmed up with it on the putting green and short game area before starting my round. The ball feels a little firmer off the putter than I was used to but it only took a few putts to adjust to the difference. While hitting short wedges around the green I found that the ball didn't spin anywhere close to what I am looking for. I then tried a few bump and run shots and the ball jumps off the face of my 9 iron and PW, definitely will take some time to adjust to the feel with non full shots.

Took it to the course and Immediately LOVED the feel off the driver and full swing golf shots. Full approach shots spin and check amazingly well with every club. The more holes I played the ball I became more and more comfortable.

I just got home from a trip to Vegas and playing Reflection Bay. Tee'd up the Tour Speed on the first hole and didn't miss a fairway or green on the front 9. This ball in the warm air of Vegas and the Elevation just Goes !!! I was 30 yards longer with the driver from Sea Level.

I'm very glad I was able to test this ball and make my next ball choice a little more confusing !!!

Tour Speed is going to be new go to ball for a lot of golfers. Tested the ball on the course, chipping and putting green as well as simulator at home.

This is a soft cover ball with really soft feel on putter. I tested with both white hot pro insert and milled putter and like the sound and feel of the milled putter but for me it was too soft for the insert. Compared with prov1 and I could clearly feel and hear the difference with Pro V1 not as soft.

Chipping/Pitching with fairly new 60,55,50 SM7 wedges. Stops on a dime if you need!! Very nice control around the greens.

Irons - For comparison I use XForged with x-100 but also tried the ball with Titleist 716 MB with ProjectX 6.0. I hit 7i 166 carry and steep approach which provides plenty of spin. PW to 7iron I saw substantial spin increase compared with Pro V1, Bridgestone Tour BX. Feel was again soft. Additional spin, for my swing and clubs, had some balls ballooning a bit both on sim and on course. I’m just not the right player for this ball. Just like I don’t play any other brands softer balls either but if your swim speed is lower and need spin for flight consistency this is a fantastic ball and needs to be in the mix.

Long Irons - didn’t do enough testing.

Driver - does what it promises. Didn’t see substantial difference in spin, flight or distance compared to other balls I compared with which is good.

Summary - Tour Speed is going to find its way into a lot of golfers bag with soft feel and added spin but still performs well off the tee.

I was excited to get this sleeve of balls from Team Titleist and finally had a chance to test the balls out this past week. As a 70 year old golfer, I’ve been losing distance over the past few years. So I’ve been looking for anything that can help restore some of the distance loss. I found that the Tour Speed launched a little higher with my driver than the ball I normally use, and as a result, I gained 5 to 10 yards from the tee. I noticed fairly similar results with my fairway woods and long irons, resulting in an additional 5 yards. With my short irons, I didn’t gain any yardage but the feel was excellent and I was generally able to get the ball a little closer to the hole due to the great spin. I really loved putting with this new Tour Speed. It was very soft and I putted much more consistently with it. I liked having the arrow on it for alignment. I’m sold on them and am going to go buy a couple dozen more Tour Speed balls. Thanks, Team Titleist!
  21. Titleist Tour Speed, 27 holes and a lot of chipping and putting. First I'm a 10 handicap, with a high ball flight, tee shots average 275 7I 160 yards. I tested the Tour Speed side by side against tour offerings from Titleist, Bridgestone, and Taylor Made. I found the Tour Speed, while softer than these balls was still able to provide great feed back on all my shots. Putting was silky smooth, and this ball spins just as well on chips and full shots in to the green as the tour balls. I did find this ball flew higher for me off the driver and full iron shots than the tour offerings; but was surprised to find each time the ball was right there with the tour balls off the tee and into the greens. I found the Tour Speed generally wanted to fly straight but I was able to move it left or right when I needed to. The only issue I had is generally with a tour ball I can stretch a shot a little further when I need to and with the Tour Speed it seemed to just go higher but still travel about the same distance. In its defense I have had similar results with other balls in this softer tour caliber segment as well. Overall I found the Tour Speed to be a very excellent offering from Titleist and should benefit a large group of us low to mid handicappers looking for tour spin and performance with a softer feel. I've attached a couple photos that are representative of the spin results I found through out the 27 holes I played with the Titleist Tour Speed.
